KRAZY KISS

I decided to looks up blogs on first kisses and stumbled upon a really interesting story about a Mormon kid who experienced his first kiss and his first heart break. He fell for a girl from his church and the same day they broke up was the same day they had their first kiss. The main thing about this blog was that he explained that instead of him being hurt due to the break up he thought of it as a "life experience".

The author used a lot of good descriptions of the girl, the kiss and he used a lot of good sequencing. The blog caught my eye because he started the scene off as very descriptive scene of him in a car with this "wonder girl" named Eliza. The author Kevin Barney makes the girl seem amazing and gives her credit for giving him the experience although she broke up with him.

Kevin used a word-euphemistically which I had to look up. According to Dictionary.com it means "the substitution of a vague, mild, or indirect expression for one thought to be offensive, harsh, or blunt." He used this word to describe the way his dream girl Eliza said that she wanted to slow things down.

Odd Outdoors Experiment

I decided to read the article "Outdoors and Out of Reach, Studying the Brain". The reason I decided to read this article is because I saw the word psychology hi lighted in blue and I'm going for a psychology major. As soon as I read the article I was intrigued that these doctors did an experiment of how the brain changes when out doors take over technology. Especially the fact that these doctors experimented on themselves.
Another thing I liked was that I was able to relate to the article because I took a nature trip myself  2 summers ago. I went to Lake Katahdin in upstate Maine by the Canadian border. I stayed in a cabin with no phone, internet, people, or running water. For 4 days we bathed in the lake with natural soap and went kayaking to various islands all day. I loved the idea of getting away with from my household and from the technology.
When I came back home, I noticed that I was in a bad mood because I had to deal with my ordinary life and days. In the article, I enjoyed a quote from Mr. Strayer that said, "Our senses change. They kind of recalibrate-you notice sounds, like these crickets chirping; you hear the river, the sounds, the smells, you become more connected to the physical environment, the earth, rather than the artificial environment." I was fascinated by what Mr. Strayer said because I agree. When I was in Maine, I would wake up early and get as much out of my day as I possibly could. My mind was definitely at ease although in the back of my head I thought about Facebook and my job.

Multitasking Madness

I read the article Debunking The Myth of Multitasking and found that Crenshaw had interesting ideas. He explained that multitasking slows you down. I found that funny because at my job, I multitask. I work the cash resister, take orders, make salads etc. I thought the different tasks of my job broadened my ability at my job but I will admit both my mind and my body are exhausted at the end if the night.
Another thing I learned from this article is that there are all kinds of  'tasking'. Crenshaw discusses backround tasking and switch tasking. I know myself I do both of these and I do them daily. For example, I can't read or do home work with out listening to music or having the tv on. Sadly, with out these uses of sound I can't concentrate. I'm the kind of person where I don't like silence. (This explains why I have a 'loud' personality.)When I clean my room I switch task from cleaning my room to finding old pictures and realizing I have just gone down memory lane for 2 hours. Then again, that is a simple example of becoming distracted.
Crenshaw's advice of  schedule what you can schedule was very helpful for me because I get really irritated when I go to check my Facebook and everyone messages me. I'm the kind of person that just checks my Facebook and the I usually can't stay on because I'm too busy. After reading this article I am going to commit to just checking my Facebook once in the morning and once at night. DEAL :)
Upon reading this article, I decided to GOOGLE statistics in college students along with all age groups about multitasking. Here's what I found:

Also, I found this website which gives even more advice on multitasking. I founds these points also helpful.

What About Me?

Number 1-Out Going-I work at a pizza place and meet lots of people everyday. Whether I've had a good day or bad day I must turn around and act as happy as I possibly can. Many of my regular customers call me outgoing because I crack jokes and use a lot of sarcasm. My boss thinks this unprofessional of me but it's what bring back my regulars. People don't want to be treated in a business like way, they want to feel like part of the family and comfortable.

Number 2-Goofy-Everyone is known for something in their group of friends. There's the couple, the party person, etc. Then there's that one person that never takes anything seriously and makes everyone laugh. That person is me. My friends know that if they have a bad day, they can come to me and I can cheer them up.

Number 3-Neurotic-Sadly, despite my fun personality, I can be very specific about things, like my daily routine. I like to go to bed early because I'm a morning person. I have acquired passive aggressiveness from my father. This makes my communication with people that I am mad at very difficult. Also, I have weird phobias and I become awkward in difficult situations.

Number 4-Family-My family is very misplaced but we all love each other very much. I like to relate my family to the family in the movie Little Miss Sunshine. My parents and I have the same sense of humor that outsiders wouldn't understand. Also, my close family consists partially of family friends because they are part of my everyday life. This past summer, I've spent most of my time with family friends.

Number 5-Determined-I have been through a lot in my life but I've been known for keeping my head up and worrying about myself. I am the first child of 4 to be getting a college education. I am balancing work  5 days a week and school 5 days a week.
